Police & Community Together

This new page will be a focus for all local policing matters. Hopefully with increased awareness on both sides, and a true co-operative effort, we can make Heysham the kind of community we want to live in.

Neighbourhood Watch in Heysham
What we do and how we do it
Neighbourhood watch exists to:
Cut crime and the opportunities for crime and anti-social behaviour.
Provide reassurance to local residents and reduce the fear of crime and
anti-social behaviour.
Encourage neighbourliness and closer communities.
Improve the quality of life for local residents and tenants.

We can do this by:
Being a community based organisation, involving residents and tenants who are working together.
Becoming involved in community solving, agreeing regularly which problems to target and what actions to take - this can be achieved by attending local PACT neighbourhood policing meetings.
Becoming involved in crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour initiatives.
Disseminating good practice procedures.
Taking part in organised training programmes, crime prevention presentations and crime reducing initiatives.
Supporting community safety projects and addressing quality of life issues.
It is a fact - the police alone cannot prevent crime. However by partnership working between the community, police and statutory agencies a significant difference can be made in reducing crime and the perceived fear of crime.
Together we can make Heysham a good place to work, reside and play.

Vacancies exist in the following areas of Heysham for Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinators.

Doorstep Cold Calling

At the quarterly meeting of the Lancashire Neighbourhood Watch Forum, I attended earlier in the week, a company trading under the name of
G & A Roofline Services has come to the attention of Lancashire Trading standards. They provide a dry verge cap system. The address for paperwork is in Cheshire. They are known to have been looking for work in the Lancaster area. If this company offers to do work on your property please consult Lancashire Consumer Direct on 08454 040 506
