| First up is Peter Butter worth from New Zealand Hello David, Peter Butterworth here emailing you from New Zealand.I am on the search for my family ties in Middleton which I am lead to believe is just down the road from Heysham My great grand-father was Thomas Butterworth,born around 1842 in Middleton Lancashire,England,He was married to a Elizabeth Dawson or Hayes,unsure of surname ,born about 1841in Middleton.I am trying to find a lead from England to New Zealand,believe they left England in 1871,arrived Greymouth NZ August 9th 1871 via San Francisco.That is all I have, so any sort of leads you could give me will be greatly appreciated. | Barbara & Ray Barrett are searching too. I am contacting you in the hope that someone in Heysham can put us in touch with either Stewart or Monica Howroyd or their relatives. We have been searching for my husbands Uncle for over 20 years but without success because we had very little to go on.His name is/was Lewis Barrett born in Keighley West Yorkshire 05/01/1921. He moved to the USA after the war when he married an american girl Jeane Ruth Della Lucca and they both kept in touch with my in=laws and my husband and I up to the 1980's when letters suddenly stopped. His wife contacted us again in the late 1980's to say that they had parted and was he with us. We had no success in finding him and then after a period of contact Jeane's letters ceased and we had to assume that she had died. We were unable to find out. We have recently discovered in some family papers that they had close friends in Heysham - Stewart & Monica Howroyd (painter & decorator) who lived in School Street, Heysham. The reason that we wonder if they have any information about Uncle Lewis is that we have found a death registered in Lancaster June 1996 and wonder if it could be our Uncle Lewis?????
